How To Play Blackjack

Learn how to play Blackjack right here. Blackjack is one of the all time most famous and popular casino games. It has featured in a many classic gambling stories including the recent movie “21″. The rules are actually quite simple and once you have grasped the basics the game become extremely enjoyable. Here is how to play Blackjack:

Blackjack Rules

Blackjack is a simple card game where the objective is to amount the total of your cards to 21. This can happen in many different ways and with any combination of cards you like. To win you must score higher than the dealer without busting your hand (busted hands are those that amount to more than 21). If you manage to achieve 21 with a picture card and an ace then you have hit Blackjack and the house pays out one and a half times your bet as opposed to just one times your bet with regular winning hands. When playing Blackjack Aces count as both one and eleven.

After the first two cards are dealt to every player at the table the dealer will then give players the option to hit or stand. Hitting means the player receives another card. Standing means the player will stay on the current total they have. Once all the players have either stood or busted the dealer will then decide whether to hit or stand. The dealer must hit any number 16 or lower and must stand on any number 17 or higher.

Should you and the dealer both finish on the same number then the hand is declared a Push and no money exchanges between the player and the house.

There are different variations to the above rules which occur on a casino to casino basis. Be sure you are aware of the exact version of the game you are playing before you start to play.

Blackjack House Edge

Blackjack is actually one of the closet games in the casino when it comes to house edge. A player who is adopting a perfect strategy is only giving away a 0.5% edge to the house. The average house edge when not playing perfect strategy is between 6% and 7%. In comparison to a game such as Roulette, Blackjack gives players a much better chance of winning.

Blackjack and Card Counting

Blackjack is famous because a system known as card counting was developed in which the player can reverse the houses edge and gain a 1% edge over the game. Unfortunately modern casinos and online casinos use many decks of cards and shuffle the pack on regular basis making card counting next to impossible.
